At ROMYNOX, we’re proud of the diverse team we’ve built, bringing together colleagues from at least eight countries, with half of our people having a non-Dutch background. This blend of cultures, languages and perspectives energizes our workplace every day. We hear different mother tongues mixing naturally, learn from each other’s habits and pick up new expressions along the way. Every ROMYTEER brings something unique to the table, and together we form one close-knit team. As Ronald van der Boon puts it: “Diversity brings colour and energy to our team.”
Diversity Drives Innovation and Success
We value diversity because it directly strengthens our ability to succeed and innovate. Different backgrounds bring different ways of thinking, and new ideas emerge when people with varied perspectives come together to tackle a challenge. As our colleague Cheung Lau notes, “Bringing in diverse perspectives can lead to valuable new insights.” In other words, it’s precisely because we are all different that we create more inventive solutions for our customers.
This isn’t just our own experience; research also shows that the more diverse a company is, the greater its chance of success. A McKinsey report found that organizations with culturally diverse teams are almost 40 percent more likely to outperform less diverse competitors. Diversity pays off by strengthening both innovation and business results, and we see that reflected in our own work. Ideas within our team benefit from the input of seasoned colleagues and newcomers with fresh perspectives, as well as from technically minded experts and creative thinkers. This blend of insights consistently lifts our services to a higher level.
Learning From One Another
Working with so many different people means we are constantly learning from each other. Everyone approaches challenges in their own way, and that leads to surprising insights. As teammates, we share our experiences and habits to better understand one another’s perspectives. Sometimes we adjust how we communicate or how we approach problems, because what feels natural in one culture can be interpreted differently in another. One colleague, for example, shared that through his partner’s Mexican background he learned to communicate with a bit more softness out of respect, which was a welcome change for colleagues who aren’t as comfortable with directness. That is the strength of a diverse team: we stay open to each other’s ways of working, and it helps us grow in how we collaborate.
At ROMYNOX, we take pride in our diverse team and the innovative strength that grows from it. For us, diversity is not a project with an end point but an ongoing journey in which we discover something new every day. As Ronald van der Boon beautifully put it, “It has been a wonderful journey so far, and I hope to continue it for a long time.” We look forward to continuing this journey together. By combining our strengths and our differences, we keep growing, innovating and achieving success with joy as one team.
